Miami Chapter History

ALPFA is one of the nation's leading professional associations, dedicated to enhancing opportunities for Latinos. For ALPFA Miami, it all began in January 2002, when Zameer Upadhya, the then President of Florida International University's Accounting Association, and Manny Espinoza, CEO of ALPFA, worked together to start the ALPFA Miami Chapter. Through the hard work of the Accounting Association, the Miami Chapter was developed.

The dedication to excellence that launched this chapter has not waivered during the past eight years. The Miami Chapter is proud to recognize the following individuals as people who personify the excellence that ALPFA Miami espouses:

For ALPFA Miami members, this success will be measured by the ability to broaden and enhance their career management skills as well as provide meaningful networking opportunities. Members find support from the organization through events like the Professional Networking Events, the annual Women of ALPFA Event, and the IMPACTO Entrepreneurial Series.

ALPFA Miami has one of the nation's largest ALPFA student chapters at Florida International University. We are in the process of developing student chapters at other local universities. The organization's 38th annual convention, scheduled for August 2010, will be held in nearby Orlando, Florida. This event will attract thousands of attendees as well as representatives from numerous companies and businesses.

We encourage interested parties to join and become involved in our board committees and our continued success.
