Spring 2010

Chris Houseman, a former president of the ALPFA at FIU chapter, was recognized as a Worlds Ahead Graduate at the Spring 2010 Commencement for Florida International University. Mr. Houseman was one of only three students to receive this recognition at the commencement. We congratulate Mr. Houseman for earning this recognition.

Fall 2009

Every fall semester, PwC hosts its annual xTAX case competition on campus at Florida International University, one of only two universities in Florida that is offered a chance to participate. This past fall semester (2009), FIU was recognized nationally by PwC's main office not only for the effort each xTAX team put forth but also for FIU's level of participation. FIU had an amazing turnout of 11 teams, consisting of five members each. Of the 55 students that participated, 24 were ALPFA members (44% of the total) and 10 (preliminary) are joining ALPFA in the spring semester (2010). The winning team, "The Intangibles", was an all-star ALPFA team that left a lasting impression on the partners juding the competition. The did an amazing job representing not only themselves but also ALPFA, FIU and the FIU Accounting program.
